The Sartoria Journal
All the wardrobe that is fit to share
A manifesto from the founding atelier, on the quiet end of ownership
There is a room in every fine house that tells the truth, and it is the wardrobe. It stands full: gowns worn once and photographed twice; coats bought for winters that never arrived; the beautiful, the coveted, and the almost entirely unworn. The average luxury wardrobe, our members confess, is a museum that admits no visitors.
We propose a quieter revolution. Not to own less beauty, but to hold it more lightly. The great houses have always understood that true luxury is not possession but access — the right dress on the right evening, arriving as if by appointment and returning as if by magic. At Sartoria Privé it arrives another way still: it is lent to you, by name, by a member of the circle.
On this the House is precise, for the two words are not sisters. Borrowing is done for money, and ends when the money does. Lending is done for one another — and for the shared wardrobe we are building together. No piece here is hired; a member lends it, the House authenticates, insures and presses it, and every garment is granted the second, third, and tenth evening it deserves.
Ownership was the last century’s idea of arrival; generosity is this one’s. The revolution will not be advertised. It will be lent graciously, worn once, admired greatly, and passed on.

Membership
Membership is deliberately limited. Every member is proposed, vetted and welcomed by name into a circle bound by a shared passion for fashion. Nothing here is borrowed for money — pieces are lent, one member to another, for the wardrobe we keep together.
